I first taught myself animation with a simple and silly back-and-forth technique called Flip-o-Rama, invented(?) by Dav Pilkey, author of many books in which those would feature. After that and a little bit of MS Paint art which I made move by showing it as a slideshow, I taught myself more by using Flipnote Studio on my DSi. I managed to join and use Flipnote Hatena, a social media-esque animation sharing service directly tied to the program, in the very last full year it was still around before it ended in May of 2013. In that time, I managed to make some animations that are all just...so aggressively late 2000s-early 2010s. They all make me cringe at least a little bit, but I'm glad you can still find them here on the Flipnote Hatena archive site, because that was where I really began animating, and they're still charming. Pretty good for a ten-year-old!
Most of my animations, like my drawings, are character focused. It's the most fun for me to bring funny little guys to life. My particular style of animation is also especially influenced by television animation of the 90s and 2000s, which I feel is a fantastic happy medium between "limited" anime/Hanna-Barbera animation and ultra-smooth "feature" animation. Both ends of the spectrum are great, to be clear! I'm just a big fan of the middle.
